Cincinnati's juvenile crime rate has increased by more than 23% in the past five years. We need a qualified Probation Officer to serve the Juvenile Court system in processing and rehabilitating young offenders.
You will be assigned a caseload of 50-75 active files. It will be up to you to review all files, present historical data as court officials consider trial and sentencing issues, develop rehabilitation strategies, track progress on all cases, and make recommendations to the courts concerning conditional release or institutionalization. Whenever possible, you will refer offenders and their family members to appropriate social service agencies and help them secure education or employment.
You're smart enough to know this is no glamour job. But you recognize the opportunity to impact young lives in positive ways. You've got tenacity, toughness, and an endless supply of enthusiasm. You've also got a degree in Criminology, Social Work or a similar field, with at least three years previous experience.
The Cincinnati Juvenile Court is a division of the county courts system, located at the courthouse in downtown Cincinnati. We offer a competitive salary, full health and life insurance coverage, retirement plan, and a smoke-free work environment. No relocation assistance. EOE/AA/ADA.
