SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS
The Decatur City Public School System seeks two Special Education teachers in the areas of Learning Disabled, Mentally Disabled, and Emotionally Disabled. Applicants must hold or be eligible for Iowa licensure with an endorsement in the appropriate area. Previous experience is preferred but not required.
Our policy is to mainstream students when it is believed they can learn in a normal classroom setting. Most of your students will attend some regular classes. You will have a maximum of 15 students in your classroom at any time, and one teacher's aide. You will be expected to assess each child's potential and set realistic goals. You will also interact with the parents.
These are 10-month contract positions. Salary range is $28,500-44,120 depending upon experience and academic training. Full benefits package. No relocation assistance offered.
