North Smithson High School in Covington, Connecticut, seeks a dynamic principal to help us continue our tradition of progressive, innovative education for all students.

Responsibilities involve administering all aspects of the school program including:

*  Student services
*  Teacher evaluation and staff development
*  Curriculum and instruction
*  Physical plant management
*  Budget development
*  Administration
*  Interaction with the School Board

You'll have assistance from a professional, experienced support staff and teachers. An associate principal, an assistant principal, 76 teachers, and 15 ancillary staff members will be returning.

School Info:

*  Grades 9-12. Projected enrollment-948.
*  Current SAT mean scores: Verbal-484; Math-501.
*  Approx. 70% of students go to a university or community        college.
*  North Smithson is the only public high school serving the
    community of approximately 55,000.
*  The facility was built in 1963, and expanded in 1977 and
    1990.
*  Exceptionally active, supportive parents. Last year, PTO had
    404 members.

Requirements:

*  Eligible for Connecticut licensure as a high school principal
*  Three years experience in an administrative or supervisory
    position, preferably as a high school principal
*  Teaching experience
*  Demonstrated knowledge of theories of instruction
*  Experience using a School Improvement Model
*  Relates well to students, parents and colleagues

We want a proven educator committed to enhancing the educational experience for all students.

The salary range, depending upon experience and qualifications, is $60,100-$89,000. Smithson County also pays the employee share of the state retirement and life insurance, and offers comprehensive benefits. Relocation assistance is available.
