Eight New Jersey residents, including a man who claimed 20 different jobs, were charged Wednesday with cheating the state's unemployment insurance fund of more than $121,000, authorities said.

The alleged cheats, ages 34 to 52, were charged with collecting unemployment checks even though they were earning wages, officials said. The amounts individually stolen range from $8,725 to $21,992, said New Jersey's Division of Criminal Justice.

If convicted, the suspects could be sentenced to five years in state prison.

The Department of Labor and Workforce Development and the Division of Criminal Justice, Major Crimes Bureau, investigated these cases.
