Bristol: The number of people out of work in Bristol rose slightly last month, official figures showed today. The Office for National Statistics figures showed that 6,010 people were out of work in Bristol in June, up by 40 people from the previous June.
The number represents 2.5 per cent of the city's working age population.
In Bath and North East Somerset, 1,246 were without jobs, equivalent to 1.2 per cent of the working age population and up by 229 compared to last June.
South Gloucestershire had 1,531 people out of work (one per cent), up by 109 since last year.
The only fall in jobless figures was in North Somerset, where 1,289 people were out of work (1.2 per cent), down by 70 since last year.
Nationally, the claimant count rose by 1,700 last month to 952,000.
In additional figures, showing the rate for the three months to May, the employment rate rose to its highest level for 13 years.
