THE BRONX - New unemployment figures released by the Department of Labor show the BX has the highest rate citywide.
The unemployment rate in the Bronx continues to rise, and residents say it's because jobs are hard to come by. But according to the borough president things will soon change.
Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr. says new job opportunities will be coming to the Bronx. He says there will be new jobs thanks to the Fulton Fish Market, plans to improve the area around Yankee Stadium and new retail investments.
In addition, job seekers can take advantage of a new job placement program opening at the Davidson Community Center. The six-week program is free and works to place candidates in jobs they are suited for.
