Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. announced Wednesday it is eliminating 37 positions in its information technology department, its second round of job cuts since Mars Inc. acquired it last year.
A Wrigley spokesman said the cuts are part of a consolidation of the department with Mars and that seven of the 37 are voluntary. The workers will be leaving over the next two years, the company said.
“The IT realignment is not part of a larger corporate reduction in force initiative,” the company said in a statement.
Earlier this year, Wrigley eliminated about 100 workers, or 10% of its Chicago headquarters staff. In addition, many top executives exited shortly after the $22-billion acquisition by Mars.
The reductions Wednesday were first reported by the Chicago Tribune.
