LANE COUNTY, Ore. - One of the nation's top timber producers will be delivering bad news to 130 workers in Oregon just in time for the holidays.

Weyerhaeuser is permanently closing two plants located in Coburg and Springfield. Officials say the shrinking demand for veneer products and a drop in housing starts forced the decision.

The plants will be decommissioned during the next few months. Officials say some of the equipment will be sent to other Weyerhaeuser facilities in Oregon.
