More than four dozen workers have been laid off at the Great Dane Trailers plant in Wayne.
Plant personnel manager Bob Dyer says the layoffs were being described as temporary.
Dyer said, "We're hoping that we'll be able to bring them all back when business picks up."
Great Dane, which is based in Savannah, Georgia, designs and produces trailers for several uses, including hauling dry freight and refrigerated foods.
Before the 53 layoffs, the plant employed about 620 people.
Dyer says the plant is not expecting any additional layoffs any time soon.
