There is some positive news for once regarding the economy.
A survey finds many employers are not planning layoffs through the remainder of 2009.
Manpower Employment Outlook says U.S. employers plan to keep their staffing levels relatively stable during the fourth quarter.
However, when it comes to hiring new employees, the survey found those numbers are not increasing.
"The hiring intentions of U.S. companies continue to be sluggish," said Manpower Inc. Chairman Jeff Joerres.
"While there are areas within the U.S. which are showing an uptick, we have yet to see the robust hiring intentions that would indicate a full labor market recovery," Joerres explained.
One Tri-State retailer tells 9News its applicant pool has increased tremendously.
Many of the applicants are professionals who have been recently laid off.
Overall, Manpower says "of the more than 28,000 employers surveyed, a significant 69 percent expect no change in their October - December hiring plans."
