COOS BAY, OR. - Dozens of lumber mill workers on the south coast are expected to lose their jobs within four months because of the slumping lumber industry.

Roseburg Forest Products plans on laying off twelve employees by January and another 23 by April. And an unknown number of workers in Coos Bay were recently laid off.

Industry organizations say November wood production totals have fallen more than eight percent since the previous year and next year is not expected to be any better.

Declines in housing construction are one of the reasons for the drop.
