Specialty electronics maker Hypertronics Corp. recently informed the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development that it would cut 58 jobs at its Hudson facility.

The notification, required by the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, said the layoffs would be made over a two-year period beginning this month. The notification also said that the workers who will permanently lose their jobs do not belong to a union.

Vadim Radunsky, who was named president of Hypertronics in May, declined to comment about the layoffs Tuesday.

Hypertronics, a subsidiary of a London-based multinational corporation called Smiths Group, designs, manufactures and distributes specialty electronics for the electronics industry.

A ThomasNet.com profile of Hypertronics said the company was founded in 1970 and employs between 200 and 500 people.
