In Ann Arbor, about half of the 2,100-worker staff will see their jobs end by this fall, another 500 or so will be gone by the end of 2007, and the remainder will leave throughout 2008.

In Kalamazoo, of 250 workers affected, half will leave the company by the end of 2007 and half by the middle of 2008.

So far, the company has made just under 1,000 transfer offers, and 50 percent of them have been accepted. Several hundred are still outstanding.

Displaced Pfizer workers from Kalamazoo or Ann Arbor who take Pfizer jobs elsewhere will largely end up working at facilities in Groton, Conn. Others will take positions at different worldwide locations, including Kalamazoo.

Openings at Pfizer are still being posted internally for workers who wish to remain with the company.

After officially being offered different Pfizer jobs, Pfizer employees typically have 10 days to accept or decline.

Pfizer is seeking a buyer for its 2.3 million-square-foot facilities in Ann Arbor. Pfizer Senior Vice President David Canter says the most likely scenario would be for a developer, real estate investment trust or other entity to buy the site and lease it to multiple tenants.
