The union that represents workers that might lose their job beginning today says that the company is making the cuts despite an increase in earnings.
The Communications Workers of America local 4400 staged a protest today in front of Cincinnati Bell's headquarters in response to the company's decision to layoff 45 workers.
A Cincinnati Bell spokesperson said in a release that because the company is working in such a competitive environment, they have decided to outsource the jobs after agreement talks, that have been in negotiations since March, failed. The company said they are offering severance packages and will continue benefits in line with the union agreement.
The union says that the cuts are coming although upper management positions are inline to receive millions in management bonuses.
