AOL laid off employees on Wednesday, but AOL spokesman Andrew Weinstein declined to say how many.

This concludes the bulk of the 5,000-employee workforce reduction the company had announced last summer, he said.

Most of the latest layoffs were employees in AOL's now defunct Internet access business at the Dulles, Va., headquarters.

The company has closed or sold four call centers and sold off its European Internet access business since moving to an ad-supported business model from a subscription model in August.

The company now has about 14,000 employees worldwide, Weinstein said.
