BATON ROUGE - Layoffs are expected to begin today for more than 500 Road Home workers, as the state changes contractors for the hurricane recovery program for homeowners.
The Louisiana Workforce Commission says an estimated 516 workers are expected to be laid off between now and the end of ICF International Inc.'s contract in June.
The agency will host a job networking event next week in Baton Rouge to help the workers find new employment.
The state has hired a new contractor to run the homeowner grant program: Hammerman and Gainer Inc., a Lutcher-based company that is one of ICF's largest subcontractors.
