Kaiser Permanente Hawaii announced Friday it will lay off up to 50 employees before the end of the year, and that more employees could be laid-off next year.

The health care company says the layoffs are part of a restructuring plan that is needed because of rising costs.

Employees will be notified by November 14 if they will be among those losing their jobs. Most of the cutbacks will hit non-union jobs. Kaiser says none of the nearly 400 physicians will lose their jobs.
