Houston oilfield services company Halliburton confirmed on Friday that it is laying off employees at its Carrollton facility.
Company spokeswoman Diana Gabriel wouldn't say how many jobs were affected.
"Halliburton continues to work hard to minimize the impact of the current global economic climate to our workforce; however, from January through the second quarter of 2009, the company eliminated about 9 percent of its total, global workforce, or approximately 5,000 positions. While most of the reductions were in North America (United States and Canada), positions around the world have been affected," she wrote in an e-mail.
