Deluxe Corp. said Thursday it will cut 145 jobs, including 37 in Shoreview and Arden Hills, in a second round of layoffs in the past few months for the Shoreview-based check printer. The cuts mostly are in the information technology and financial departments, officials at the company said. Employees were notified on Wednesday and were offered severance packages. In November, officials said they were eliminating 250 jobs in order to simplify the company's structure. "At that time, we told employees there would be another round in the early part of the year," said Terry Peterson, chief accounting officer at Deluxe. "This is the follow-up to that. We're pretty much ready to go now." Deluxe made the cuts to address challenges it's facing in the age of electronic commerce, with fewer people writing checks and more paying their bills online.
