Minneapolis, MN - More troubles for the air travel industry as Minnesota-based Sun Country Airlines is looking at some significant cuts.
Sun Country says rising fuel costs are forcing it to lay off nearly 30 percent of its pilots starting May first.
An airline spokesperson says Sun Country will not be flying as much this summer because of rising fuel prices.
The company has 156 pilots, and 45 have received letters letting them know about the temporary layoffs.
Sun Country says flights that weren't as profitable will be cut, but no routes are being eliminated.
The announcement comes one day after Bloomington-based charter carrier Champion Air said it will stop flying altogether on May 31st because of high fuel prices.
