Roanoke, VA - The nation's second-largest auto parts retailer, headquartered here in Roanoke, is cutting 250 jobs. Company executives say "Advance Auto" will be trying to cut costs by $50-million over the next two years.

Company leaders are also curbing plans to build new stores. The company says sales have been slow and expenses, high. They've not made public yet exactly which jobs will be cut. Advance will stop its "store renovation program" and will cut its in-house produced TV network that you see running on TV in the stores.

Advance Auto operates about 3,000 stores in and around the US.
