Gillette Looks To RVers To Fill Jobs

Associated Press

April , 2007

GILLETTE, WY. - Representatives of the county Economic Development Corporation in Gillette, Wyoming, recently went to an R-V rally in Quartzsite with the goal of recruiting temporary workers.

They had hoped to recruit 30 people to work seasonal jobs in the Gillette area. Instead, she got about ten.

Many of the R-Vers said they already had plans for this summer. But several also said they would keep the Gillette area in mind for finding work in future years.

Gillette and much of Wyoming have a labor shortage because of booming gas development.

The housing market in Gillette also is tight. That's part of the appeal of recruiting R-Vers -- they take their housing with them.
