CHARLESTON, WV - A new report suggests West Virginia companies have been getting taxpayer-funded incentives, then turning around and cutting jobs.

The West Virginia Center on Budget and Policy report released Sunday cites examples such as a Pocahontas County wood products company that received more than $722,000 in state loans and as much as $150,000 in tax credits between 2003 and 2006. During that period, its work force was trimmed to 200, from 215.

West Virginia Economic Development Authority Executive Director David Warner says some of the agency's loan recipients may have cut jobs, but many others have not.
