Rayovac To Cut 100 Jobs From Plant In Southwest Wisconsin

FENNIMORE, WI. - Battery-maker Rayovac says it will cut about 100 jobs from its plant in the southwest corner of Wisconsin. Officials say the cuts will be made in January and the jobs will move to China in February.

The cuts represent nearly one-third of the 275 workers at the plant in Fennimore.

Fennimore Mayor Chuck Stenner says the timing might be bad -- but he commends Rayovac for at least giving employees plenty of notice.

Machine operator Aaron Tatu has worked for the company for 20 years. He says it's the largest single layoff he's seen.

Restaurant owner Denny Frederick says every local business is going to be affected by the loss of those 100 jobs.

About 2,500 people live in the local Fennimore community.
