The Dayton area is slated to get between 400 and 600 new jobs resulting from a new information technology project at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
The work comes to Wright-Patt as a result of the successful effort to keep here the information technology missions in light of the Base Realignment and Closure decisions of 2005, according to a press release issued by the Dayton Development Coalition.
Wright-Patt's 554th Electronic Systems Group will work with Computer Sciences Corp., which was awarded the contract, to launch the program. Called Expeditionary Combat Support System, the program will bring the information technology jobs to the region in the next three to four years.
"By coming together as a community and with the support of the state and federal delegations, the Dayton Region stands to gain a significant amount of high wage, high tech jobs," said Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher in a press release issued late Friday.
