A specialty award and apparel maker officially notified the state this week of plans to shut down a Marysville plant by the end of the year.
Greenville-based Neff Motivation in a filing with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services said the closing of the 639 Clymer Road plant, which makes chenille varsity letters, will cost 88 jobs. Cuts will begin in mid-November at the earliest.
Paul Carousso, finance chief for Neff parent Visant Corp., said the company makes the letters in Marysville and at a Dominican Republic plant, which will take on the additional work amid a decline in customer demand.
Neff has about 500 employees company-wide. Aside from its headquarters in western Ohio and the Marysville plant, the company also has a facility in Unadilla, Ga.
The company, which stitches and embroiders custom products such as plaques, ribbons, team jackets, T-shirts and medals, was founded in 1949.
