FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - Off-price retailer TJX is closing two distribution centers in Mansfield and moving the operations to Bloomfield, Connecticut.

More than 500 people will lose their jobs in the move.

It's part of the company's effort to consolidate operations for its HomeGoods division.

According to the Providence Journal, about 490 of the 505 workers are from Rhode Island.

The first wave of layoffs is planned for tomorrow. The remaining workers would be out of a job at the end of June.

The Framingham-based company operates TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods and some smaller chains in the US and Canada.
