While companies large and small continue to shrink their workforces, the federal government remains on a steady hiring course across the country.
To help with your job search, Forbes digs through the U.S. Department of Labor's and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' lists of open jobs to find the highest-paid professional positions to post here. Along with the title, we'll tell you a little about each job and its salary range and provide a direct link to the official listing and online application.
The good news is that you don't have to be a policy wonk to be hired by the government. Many of these jobs are similar to those you'd find at any company. For instance, this week's jobs run the gamut from health communications specialist to supervisory nurse midwife. To be considered, though, you must be an American citizen and, in some cases, agree to a background check.
Don't wait to apply. The deadlines for many of these jobs are quickly approaching.
