An international engineering firm that services power plants will boost its Charlotte division by hiring 100 more employees in the next six months.

The announcement by Texas-based Fluor Corp. follows its addition of 133 local workers last year.

Fluor moved into 73,000 square feet in the One SouthPark Center in May, doubling the size of its Charlotte office. The company (NYSE:FLR) established its Power Group Execution Center in the area in August 2006.

The firm took floors six through 10 for its engineering and construction divisions dedicated to the power industry.

The midrise, recently renovated by Trammell Crow Co., has been rebranded as the Fluor Building. About 180 employees are now housed in the office off Fairview Road.

The new jobs will be engineering positions, the company says. Fluor says it will target experienced professionals as well as recent college graduates.

“Continued expected growth in the power market, coupled with the depth of professional resources in Charlotte, makes this an ideal location for Fluor to center its ongoing power business,” Trey Wills, executive director of the company’s Charlotte operations, says in a written statement.
