DHL Express USA said it will cut 175 jobs at its corporate office in Plantation.
The delivery service has 1,000 employees in Plantation. DHL said the layoffs are in line with a restructuring plan announced in late May, and will help lower general and administrative costs.
The restructuring plan also includes a deal where Atlanta-based UPS would provide air transportation for all of DHL's express, deferred and international package volume within the U.S., and airlift for DHL packages between the U.S., Canada and Mexico; and the closing of service centers in primarily low-volume, rural locations.
DHL said affected employees are being provided a 60-day notice and will receive severance payment and transition assistance.
