NBC Strikes Deal With City To Bring Jobs From New Jersey

NBC Universal struck a deal with the city Wednesday that will bring 421 jobs from Secaucus, New Jersey to Rockefeller Center in Manhattan.

In exchange, the city will give NBC a $1.5 million in tax breaks. NBC also agreed to keep almost 4,000 jobs in the city until 2023, 1,500 more than they previously promised to keep.

Some workers unions are upset with the deal. They say NBC is just trying to replace union employees with non-union, part-time employees from New Jersey.

In October, NBC said it was cutting 700 jobs from its news division and moving the MSNBC network from New Jersey to Manhattan.
