June 19, 2007

Aflac Inc. (AFL) opened a 95,000 square-foot office complex in Columbus, Ga., as part of its three-step expansion plan, which will create 2,000 new jobs over the next 5 to 6 years.

The insurance company, based in Columbus, Ga., said it expects to begin the second phase of the project in August, completing construction in early 2009.

The final $100 million complex will be more than 300,000 square feet and will be used for customer service and classrooms. It is Aflac's biggest expansion since 2001.
