March 14, 2008
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The state Commerce Department says URS Corporation's Washington Division has opened a new headquarters in Fort Mill and plans to employ 400 people, providing a range of commercial nuclear energy services.
The longtime operator of the Savannah River Site says more than half the jobs will be filled with nuclear professionals in the Southeast. The rest will be filled with Washington Division workers from other parts of the country.
The Washington Division managed the former nuclear weapons site in South Carolina for the Department of Energy for nearly 20 years.
San Francisco-based URS provides services for a variety of industries, including transportation, hazardous waste, military facilities and defense and security programs.
