In anticipation of the Tacoma’s arrival, Toyota’s San Antonio truck plant will hire “dozens” of employees to maintain and repair manufacturing equipment, officials said Friday.
That comes on top of the 850 people Toyota already has started hiring to help build Tacoma pickups when production starts next year.
So far, Toyota says it has hired about half of those production workers and plans to add the rest by the end of this year.
The new positions announced Friday are for “skilled team members” who will fix equipment in the sprawling 2.2-million-square-foot plant.
Toyota does not have a fixed number of jobs to offer but plans to hire “dozens,” a plant spokeswoman said. The jobs pay up to $25 an hour.
