The hiring outlook for CIOs is looking up, writes InformationWeek's Marianne Kolbasuk McGee in a post called "Companies Looking To Hire CIO 2.0."
Shawn Banerji, managing director at national executive recruitment firm Russell Reynolds, says companies are starting to fill top leadership positions and add staff at posts that have been vacant for a while.
Companies that are hiring are saying, according to Banerji, "we want a top IT leader to be a broad-based business executive, transformational." He says it varies by industry, but top leaders are expected to show the business how to harness technology in new ways to achieve its aims.
Beverly Lierberman, president of national executive recruitment firm Halbrecht Lieberman Associates, also is quoted as saying she sees more hiring activity at the level of project manger. Among the "hot" projects she lists: service-oriented architecture, Web-based development, business intelligence and CRM development.
Overall, however, tech hiring managers remain cautious, reports CIO.com.
