As news of layoffs continue to grab headlines every day, one St. Louis company said it is hiring.

Online investment firm Scottrade, one of the fastest-growing companies in St. Louis, said Monday it’s looking to fill 50 open information technology positions through a career fair this week, according to Caroline Dybala, recruitment manager.

The company plans to hire a total of 200 and 250 IT professionals, all based in St. Louis, by year's end, she said.

Scottrade is holding an information technology career fair Friday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel St. Louis at Westport.

St. Louis-based Scottrade is an online investment brokerage and one of the area’s largest privately held companies, with 2007 revenue of $1.03 billion.
