The Noel Group, a Stevens Point provider of travel assistance and insurance companies, said it needs to hire up to 50 new employees to service new work it has landed with insurance giant Assurant Inc.

The new employees will work for the company's CallForce business in Stevens Point providing customer service for mobile phone insurance customers. Noel Group said CallForce will employ more than 60 full- and part-time employees within the Noel Group offices in Stevens Point with plans to grow substantially in the next 12 months.

"We will hire 40 to 50 people initially with hopes to expand to as many as 100 by year end,” said Sue Bergh, director of human resources for the Noel Group.

Noel Group is the company that founded Stevens Point travel insurance company Travel Guard International, which it sold in 2006 to insurance and financial services giant American International Group Inc. (AIG).

The announcement comes a month after Noel Group informed state officials that it was closing its Noel Learning Center in Stevens Point, putting 30 employees out of work. A Noel Group spokeswoman said the affected employees have been hired by CAP Services’ Children’s Discovery Center, a collaborative effort of nonprofit human services organization CAP Services Inc., Travel Guard and Ellis Stone Construction.
