Alabama-based Liberty National Life Insurance Co. plans to fill at least 200 job openings as part of a big expansion in Central Florida this year, the company said Tuesday.
The hiring begins today with a job fair from 9 a.m. to noon and from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Omni Hotel at ChampionsGate.
Liberty National expects to hire life and health insurance agents, sales managers and support staff in the coming months.
Company officials said the move is being driven by increased sales of life and supplemental-health insurance. Liberty National has focused on being a low-cost provider, which it said has helped sustain its growth.
Liberty National reported new life-insurance policy sales of $48.5million, up 31 percent in 2008. New supplemental-health sales were up 22 percent to $12.2million. In 2007, the company said it held more than $45billion in life policies.
Based in Birmingham, the company is the largest insurance subsidiary of Torchmark Corp., a publicly traded insurance conglomerate in McKinney, Texas.
