The MTA hasn't been getting high marks for cleanliness on its rider report cards, so New York City Transit is hiring some extra clean-up crews.

As many as 350 new workers are taking on trash detail as part of the $7.6 million program announced back in July. About 250 workers have been hired so far.

They're being deployed to clean up stations, tracks and trains throughout the city.

The TA plans to keep the cleaners through next year and is considering expanding the program.
