Hundreds of people across Michigan are waiting on the big call back from a growing company. The Demmer Corporation has announced that it's looking to boost its staff. The company held a huge job fair, posting more than 700 positions. Demmer is looking to fill every position imaginable, from engineers, to line workers, even clerical jobs. The company is working fast to put people to work at its north plant.
Hopeful applicants waited in a long line that started at one door, reached down the hall and ended outside of the building.
William Kirkland: "I need a job, so this is perfect."
Terri Sand, Capital Area Michigan Works: "This is the first step in the process to collect applications, move job seekers through the interview process."
Everyone who waited got a first interview conducted by area staffing agencies.
Job seeker: "They told me it would be about a week before I would hear from somebody."
Terri Sand: "After the preliminary steps today, the applicants would meet with the respective staff agencies to work through background checks, drug testing and second interviews as well."
With their applications in, there's more waiting to do for that second phone call, but for many, that wait will be worth it in the end.
Terry Sand: "They will begin at Demmer ASAP."
