CNX Gas Corp., one of the largest producers of natural gas in the Appalachian basin, announced this week that it will nearly double its workforce over the next three years, hiring an additional 200 people amid plans for a major capital investment in the region.
To make room for growth, CNX—a spinoff of Consol Energy Inc.--has relocated its offices from South Park to the 4th floor of Five Penn Center West in Robinson with an option to expand another 10,000 square feet through the addition of the 5th floor.
“We will be making a $350,000 investment in the next three years and are going to need to hire employees to turn those capital assets into hard economic value,” says Daniel Zajdel of CNX. “Pittsburgh is an attractive location; the central location of our new offices will help us draw from the whole region.”
With average salaries starting at over $100,000, the jobs should be attractive to families who may relocate to the area, Zajdel adds. About one-third of the jobs will be corporate jobs in Pittsburgh. The other two-thirds will be field operations in the company’s operation centers in Waynesboro and Southwestern Virginia.
CNX Gas is an independent natural gas exploration, development, production, and gathering company. Business Week cited CNX Gas in its survey of Hot Growth Companies in May 2006.
