November 5, 2007
Ikea said it's beginning the hiring process to staff its massive new distribution center near Tacoma at the Frederickson Industrial Area in unincorporated Pierce County.
The home furnishings retailer announced last month that it was building an 843,000-square-foot facility on 65 acres, with the first phase expected to open in spring 2008.
Ikea said it needs 125 employees when the new center opens next year and is currently looking for employees to work in facility management, operations support, business support, systems management, inventory control, safety and security, and warehouse receiving.
The distribution center will be Ikea's seventh in North America. The company operates a retail store in Renton.
