HEBRON - Amazon.com Inc. wants to hire more than 500 full-time positions at its three Northern Kentucky distribution centers to support its growing customer demand, the company said Tuesday.

The Seattle-based online retailer opened a distribution center in Hebron in 2005. It also operates five additional Kentucky distribution and support facilities, in Campbellsville, Lexington and Louisville.

"As we continue to expand selection for customers across all product categories, we are hiring smart, friendly and dedicated people to help us accommodate current and future demand," said Connie Wendzicki, Amazon's eastern regional director of fulfillment in a statement issued by the company.

Hourly positions are available in the company's human resources department, warehouse, maintenance division, receiving and shipping, and loss prevention.

Management openings include roles as area managers, operations managers and facilities managers.

"This is a great indication to us, especially at a time when there has been a lot of discussion of a potential recession," said Northern Kentucky Chamber spokeswoman Sandra Guile.

Open-house events are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn at 1717 Airport Exchange Boulevard in Erlanger.

Management positions can be applied for online at www.amazon.com/careers.
