GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- One of Michigan's top employers is looking to increase its employee count by another 2,700 team members in Michigan alone. With the opening of nine new supercenters this year, Meijer will hire 450 team members per store, starting in February.
Meijer is looking to fill positions at its new White Lake Store within the next couple of months. "We are excited to put the 'Now Hiring' signs out," said John Zimmerman, Meijer Spokesman. "Not only is the community excited to shop our new stores, they are excited about the opportunity to work for one of the best companies in town. There is a great pool of applicants out there and we look forward to talking with them." Typically a mass hiring for a new store will accept around 4,000 applications.
Applications being accepted:
February 7 - White Lake Meijer Store. Interviews will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Waterford Meijer store, located at 4200 Highland Road, Waterford, MI. Interviews will be at this location for one week until moved to the new White Lake location. Interested applicants can see store for details.
The White Lake Meijer supercenter will be 207,000 square feet in size, offering over 35 expanded departments, 200,000 plus items, pharmacy located in the front of the store, new adjacencies, expanded electronic/entertainment center, lower shelving for easy accessibility, wider aisles, and information centers throughout the store.
Meijer will be opening five more Michigan stores this year; Gaines Township, Holland Township, Marysville, Southfield and Ionia (Ionia will be a replacement store). The stores will be part of the nine new supercenters the Michigan based retailer will open in 2005. Overall Meijer will be hiring over 3,600 team members this year.
