It has now been a year since the federal government took over security operations at the South Bend Regional Airport.

The Transportation Safety Administration, or TSA, was created after the 9-11 terrorist attacks. It wasn't until October of 2002 that the agency actually began checking passengers and bags in South Bend.

Today, the local TSA announced it was looking to hire 15 additional part-time workers.

James Rouche of TSA says, "Part-time is a thing we're just getting into. TSA began with all full-time jobs but we found that the mission is easier and more efficient to accomplish if we use part-time folks."

Prospective job applicants who want more information are asked to visit the TSA's web site.
