The unsecured creditors committee in Delta Air Lines' bankruptcy case says it supports Delta's decision to file its stand-alone reorganization plan. But the committee says it also will weigh alternatives, including U-S Airways' unsolicited 8.4 billion dollar bid for Delta.

Meanwhile, Delta Air Lines announced it will begin accepting applications for new-hire pilots in anticipation of exhausting its recall of furloughed pilots next year. Delta has been bringing pilots on furlough back to duty as it expands its international operations.

The Atlanta based company says hiring for first-officer positions are scheduled to begin in January. Delta says it would need about 200 additional pilots during 2007 in order to meet the demands of its flying schedule. It said Wednesday that those pilots will come from a combination of pilots returning from furlough and new hire pilots. Delta has also been bringing back furloughed flight attendants.
