A hiring event will be held on today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection recruiters will be on the campuses of the University of Central Florida, Strayer University, Columbia College and Remington College.
They are looking to hire 11,000 people nationally to work mostly as Border Patrol agents.
"We are looking for individuals who want to join the largest uniformed federal agency, which is the Border Patrol, and are willing to relocate to the southwest border or the northern border, are between 18 and 39 years of age, and are looking for a challenge," Jose Gonzalez of the U.S. Border Patrol said.
The agency said this is a career, not a temporary position, and candidates would likely have to relocate to the Arizona or Canadian borders.
Pay for the position starts in the $30,000s and $40,000s and go up from there in the first few years.
The training process is rigorous and takes 90 days, and only about one of every 30 applicants makes it through.
