The U.S. Census Bureau is readying for the 2010 count of the nation’s population with plans to hire 1,000 temporary workers for each of its five Ohio offices, including one in Columbus.
The bureau’s Detroit regional center on Thursday said offices in Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo and Canton have opened or are set to open soon. Each office is expected to be fully staffed by January.
The 1,000 workers in each office will be made up of recruiters, trainers, data collectors and workers who update address lists and contact local officials to ensure the count is accurate. Positions available are: office operations supervisor, administrative assistant, enumerator and crew leader. Hourly pay ranges from $8.25 to $19.
Those interested in becoming temporary census workers need to call 866-861-2010.
