There are an estimated 81,500 unfilled jobs in Washington, state officials said, with jobs for registered nurses topping the list.
The Employment Security Department said it surveyed more the 15,000 businesses, which indicated there were 81,532 unfilled jobs; up nearly 11,000 compared with a year earlier. It was the highest number of vacancies in the survey's four-year history, officials said. There are 4,802 vacancies for registered nurses, followed by 2,526 openings for cashiers.
King County accounted for 52 percent of the unfilled jobs, the officials added.
"Job seekers have lots of choices out there, from entry-level to career-track positions with good salaries," said Gov. Chris Gregoire, in a statement.
