Kari Dunham didn’t have a full-time job lined up when she graduated from Marquette University last spring, but she was already laying the groundwork to land one by mid-summer.
Dunham’s spring internship at Finn Digital, a Milwaukee interactive marketing company, was extended after graduation and she got hired as a regular employee in July.
Typically reserved for students, internships are become a more viable option for recent graduates having trouble finding full-time jobs during the current economic downturn, say college career counselors and recent graduates.
Dunham, 23, was worried about getting a job and looked for other positions during her internship. But she was hopeful about her prospects at Finn Digital.
